A good spot. Food is good and service is good. This place is always packed and there is a reason why. Glad we discovered this place. The Dan Dan Noodles with Pork is a favorite

On Fridays and Saturdays make sure to have a reservation otherwise you can be stuck waiting for agessss for a table!! Sometimes if it's busy service can be quite slow and we can be forgotten :( which is what happened one night when we ordered fish with soy sauce, pea shoots, brown rice, and tofu with salted eggs. The pea shoots took foreverrrr to arrive and we were pretty much done eating all the other dishes before the waiter stopped by and apologized for the wait and said it was coming out soon. Then it took forever for the check. Anyway -- moral of the story is: don't show up on busy days because it's not as nice of an experience! OTHERWISE the food is pretty good! Which is why it's popular! My favorite dish is the fish with soy sauce and ginger. I know this is a sichuan restaurant but I like this non spicy dish more. I like too that they give brown rice. I would not recommend the tofu with salted eggs because it was quite bland and the eggs were not salty. Pea shoots are of course my favorite vegetable and are good. Otherwise a lot of typical sichuan dishes are quite corn starchy and thick, but that's pretty much the style of Americanized sichuan restaurants in Philly.

I ordered here for delivery on thanksgiving and it was wonderful! The Chongqing Spicy Chicken was especially delicious. I found that the spice level ratings were pretty accurate. I love spicy food so 3/3 was definitely spicy but I could still easily taste flavors. Green beans and crab were also really good. The amount of crab you get is a great value.

There truly is a reason why this was hailed as one of Philly's Best Places to Eat. I needed to find a restaurant with Egan options, and Emei did not disappoint. The mapo tofu was aptly spiced, but very spicy and the pea shoots and garlic, vegan soup and vegan Dan Dan noodles were just so yummy. And definitely get the dried green beans with garlic for the umami flavor!

Great spot to share a meal with a group of friends and it also seems like a good takeout spot. Definitely gets busy on the weekend, we had a reservation but didn't get seated until closer to 30 mins after it. The service is so-so, but in Chinatown, food over service, and the food was delicious and plentiful. We shared family style and had many more dishes than my pictures could manage. The twice cooked pork had a great texture and served up savory goodness. I'd highly recommend the eggplant spicy stir fry, as I'm not a big eggplant person and still took seconds. The pork wontons had a yummy pork filling and nice spicy chili oil complement. The crispy walnut shrimp had sizable shrimp in a delectable sweet sauce. The general tso's chicken was also good. Everything was as you would expect, and no bad dishes. Just expect some time before you see the server again.

had high expectations but a little disappointed on the dishes. Not as good as promoted. But overall is good. The staff was busy. Need more staff. Not very spicy.

Delicious and amazing service, too! I loveeeee wood ear mushrooms - this one had quite too many toppings that weren't the best texture wise so I had to push them aside. The Dan Dan noodles were way better than I expected. The pork wasn't mushy and had a crisp to it which was ideal for texture. The fresh green onion and numbing peppers made it a very dimensional dish. The wontons were good but weren't super exciting. The three dishes alone filled me up but I would have loved to try more as the dishes everyone had around me look delicious. So much flavor here and didn't disappoint

Very yummy, one of the best you can find out here. (+) all their food was pretty authentic. I didn't need to see the menu to order, they had all of the selections you would find in a Szechuan place if not even more. (+) love the tribes, popcorn chicken, and pork with garlic / pepper (forgot what these exact names were but you can see them in the picture) (+) we had kids with us so appreciated the clean high chair, plastic utensils, and the changing table in the bathroom. (-) I felt like they weren't spicy enough, possibly to cater to non spice eaters, so I would specify to them that you can handle spice for them to go all in and a better taste (-) the fish could have been better if they use live fish (-) the cabbage can also be improved, the flavor lacked umami. Overall love it, will definitely come back again!

Amazing restaurant and I can't wait to return and take more people! Great spot to go with a group. My friends and I ordered a few dishes to share and everything was outstanding! We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, dry fried green beans, pork wontons in hot chili, homemade scallion pancakes, stir fried spicy eggplant, and spicy lamb with cumin. Each dish was flavorful and plenty. My favorites were the Dan Dan noodles and green beans. Highly recommend! They have a full bar, but I'm not sure if they do happy hour. Will definitely be back soon to try more dishes!
